JENNIFER MCSHEA, B.A.

School: Naropa University
Year Expected to Graduate: 2023
I am currently a master’s level student working towards a degree in clinical mental health counseling at Naropa University. I graduated from UMBC with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2019. I have a background in the healing arts as a bodywork therapist in which I witnessed the profound connection between the body and the mind. My work tends to be mindfulness-based and emotionally-focused within a client-centered, collaborative and trauma-informed container in which I honor each person’s intrinsic strength and wisdom. My approach to therapy is holistic as I have a foundation in psychotherapeutic practices to address body, mind, heart, and spirit. I have a passion for integrating expressive arts and body-centered contemplative practices into therapy whenever appropriate. I am especially drawn to working with developmental and intergenerational trauma to address relational wounds formed in early attachments and family systems which often keep us stuck in unproductive patterns. Cultivating the capacity to disrupt these patterns in a therapeutic relationship, one can regain the agency and awareness to make different choices.
